First off - it’s been a bit, and here’s why:


We took some time to focus our efforts on a special project - one that we’re excited to be sharing with the world!


We've completely revamped our YouTube channel and podcast so that we could bring you even more value!


We learned how much you love these platforms, which is why we decided to invest more of our efforts into it!


Naturally, we had to take a brief pause, but now we’re back - even better than before! And I can personally promise you we’re here for the long haul now.


Now, with that being said - I really hope you’re not like most athletes


Meaning: most athletes are way too focused on the things that they can’t control.


Now before you say, “Matt, I get it, most people are…” let me tell you - you really don’t get it.


Let me explain…


This past week I had an NFLer that we work with explain to me how his OTA’s (offseason training with the team) were going, and he said, “Matt, I realized something.”


He goes, “I can literally beat out 90% of these guys for a spot by simply doing the basics right.


What Most Athletes Do

He saw that about 90% of his teammates were crying corners - cheating the details, not staying disciplined with their diets, not studying the playbook, taking off for the weekends to go party, etc.


They don’t do the basics right and are always playing catch up…in the toughest league in the world for football.


Imagine that - they’re some of the worlds best athletes in the world and even they are cheating the basics - even they are lacking discipline.


So what does this mean?


Simply put: most people don’t do the basics right, and this is where you have a hidden advantage…


How to Get Ahead of 90% of Most Athletes

The secret: discipline and consistency, not next level skills, are the way to the top.


And before you say, “Matt, that’s not true!!” Hear me out…


It’s not the “next level skills,” that make the best of the best who they are, it’s their ability to be consistent in performance.


They do the basics day in, day out, which allows them to have, on average, 2 more productive days per week than the rest of their teammates.


Add that up over the course of a month and that’s anywhere from 8-10 extra days to better themselves versus the majority.


Add that up over the course of a year and that’s anywhere from 48-60 extra days to better themselves versus the majority.


See where I’m going with this?


That’s close to a month and a half worth of an advantage over the rest.


And that discipline is what lets them be their best; it’s the discipline behind the basics that bring them wild success.


Where others can’t trust themselves, they can.


What’s Your Key? 🔑

You’ve got to be the disciplined athlete who does the basics well.


Is this simple? Definitely. But is it easy? Not at all.


It’s the simple things that we often fail to do the most, isn’t it?


Work on your daily discipline - do the basics well, and remember: success isn’t a sign to take your foot off the gas, but instead a sign to tell you that what you’re doing is working.


SO KEEP DOING IT.


Discipline is everything.
